Arqus Summer School on Artificial Intelligence and Digital Transformation, 7-13 July 2025
The Arqus Living Lab on AI & Digital Transformation is thrilled to invite PhD students from Arqus universities to participate in an interdisciplinary summer school hosted at the University of Graz. This hands-on programme will focus on exploring the transformative potential of artificial intelligence (AI) and digital technologies across various disciplines
Eligibility
- Open to PhD students from all academic disciplines.
- Applicants must be enrolled at one of the Arqus Alliance universities.
- Applicants must demonstrate the relevance of AI and digital transformation to their ongoing PhD projects.

Submit a 1–2 page summary of your PhD project, clearly outlining its connection to the summer school topic (AI & Digital Transformation). - Curriculum Vitae (CV):
A concise 1-page CV highlighting your academic background and achievements.

Selection Process
- Applications will be evaluated locally by the partner universities of the Arqus Alliance.
- Each partner university will select up to 3–4 PhD students to participate in the summer school.
Criteria for Selection:
- Relevance of the applicant’s PhD research to the summer school topic.Quality and clarity of the submitted project summary
- Academic achievements.
Selected participants will be notified by 1 April 1 2025.
Funding Options
- Selected participants will receive a lump sum of €900 to help cover travel, accommodation, and subsistence costs.
Additional funding may be available through your International Offices or other relevant PhD programme funding offered by your home university.
Note: The grant is offered to PhD students from Arqus partner universities, excluding those from the University of Graz.

Arqus Summer School on Teaching Innovation - Active Learning in Action: Engaging Students through AI
The 2025 edition of the ARQUS Summer School on Teaching Innovation will take place from July 2nd - 4th 2025 at the University of Minho in Braga.
The thematic focus “Active Learning and AI” will help you explore how AI can help students engage more and better in university courses. Delve into the essentials of active learning and assessment, techniques to foster student engagement and learn to use Artificial Intelligence to develop content, strategies, and/or assessments that captivate students’ attention and curiosity.

There are 5 spots available for Uni Graz instructors. The training is free of charge, travel and accommodation will be supported by Erasmus+ staff mobility funding.
How to apply: Send a letter of motivation by e-mail to zlk(at)uni-graz.at by February 28th, 2025. Spots will be allocated on a first-come-first-served basis, but also considering an even distribution among the faculties.

Graz International Summer School Seggau 2025
We are pleased to announce that the call for applications for GUSEGG 2025 - 20 years of GUSEGG is open!
The Graz International Summer School Seggau (GUSEGG) is a two-week international academic programme aimed at motivated, internationally oriented students from all fields of study and at all levels who wish to deepen their understanding of current global trends and challenges. The unique setting of this summer school, with 80 students and 20 professors from all over the world living together on the Schlosscampus, enables intensive discussions between classes and promotes intercultural and interdisciplinary discourse as well as a sustainable transfer of knowledge.
This year, GUSEGG is celebrating its 20th anniversary. This very special edition will take place from 6 to 19 July on the topic of Time, Temporality and Change: State - Society - Religion. In lectures, seminar modules, panel discussions and other events, participants will approach this topic from different perspectives and disciplines.
