Arqus, together with the ENLIGHT Alliance and Arqus, is organising the 10th Open Science Ambassadors webinar. This year the course will focus on the topic: "Data makers' and users' views on useful paradata". The webinar will take place on 29 September from 10:00 to 11:00 (CET) on Zoom.
Participants will examine the role of paradata. Paradata is information about how research data is created, curated, manipulated and used. Examining these helps to make data truly (re)usable.
In the webinar, Isto Huvila (Uppsala University) will present the results of a recent study in which archaeologists were asked which aspects of paradata they consider most important in their work. The results show that the perspectives of data producers and users mostly coincide.

The call for the 11th edition of the Arqus Cafés, which will take place from 6 October to 12 December, is open again! If you would like to become part of the Arqus Café family as a tutor, you can register here.
All Arqus languages are offered, but new languages are also welcome. Tutors support and guide the conversation in their first or native language and encourage participants in their learning. Tutors receive training, a guide, topics and strategies for leading the sessions, and in many cases two tutors per language work together. The cafés take place for one hour each week, and the selected tutors can offer their café at a time that fits their schedule.
The Arqus Cafés are informal events where students and staff can come together to practise under guidance. The cafés, which take place both online and in person, offer participants a relaxed environment where they can improve their language skills and expand their cultural understanding without the pressure. Contact us at arqus_cafe@arqus-alliance.eu if you have any further questions.
Blended Intensive Programmes (BIP) are intensive programmes that use innovative learning and teaching methods, including the use of online collaboration. These programmes for students and staff must include short-term physical mobility abroad combined with a mandatory virtual component that enables collaborative online learning exchanges and teamwork.
The programmes must be developed and implemented by at least 3 partners from the Erasmus+ programme countries, in which case at least 2 universities from the Arqus alliance must be involved. The virtual component is mandatory, but there are no restrictions in terms of timeframe or duration. The BIP should include a minimum number of mobile participants (10 to 20, depending on the hosting partners) from universities in the programme countries. Participants can be both students (all cycles) and staff.
The content for both the physical and the virtual component should be jointly designed by the partners and can be either interdisciplinary or very specific. The activities must be implemented in the period from January 2026 to 31 July 2026.
The call is open until 15 November2025. All further information can be found under this link.
