We are pleased to open the 9-month Arqus Mentoring Programme for Early-Stage Researchers with the physical Kick-Off Workshop from 5th to 6th October 2023 at the University of Graz.
During this 2-day event, the 15 selected mentees will get to know each other in order to establish a foundation for the upcoming months. The mentees will share their challenges and visions for their academic careers as well as their plans for the mentoring process with other international young researchers.
The workshop is focused on group exercises and discussions led by Dr Yasmin Dolak-Struss on how to get the most out of the mentoring relationship and how to build successful communication with the mentor.
The aim of the Arqus Mentoring Programme for Early-Stage Researchers is to support the establishment of sustainable mentoring relationships between early-career researchers and established researchers across the Arqus partner universities. It is designed for doctoral candidates and early postdocs who are interested in professional support during the first stages of their academic careers.
The mentees are matched with established researchers from another Arqus university to discuss career decisions, challenges and opportunities, research methods, and skills such as time management, science communication and work-life balance. The Programme will run from October 2023 to June 2024 and include at least four online meetings between mentee and mentor, with optional in-person visits, and four online training and peer group sessions with all mentees.
