Refugee Girls: Film screening and discussion

Poster film screening Refugee Girls 7 May

The UNI-ETC organises the screening of the film "Refugee Girls" and a following discussion as part of an Arqus ad hoc bottom-up initiative dealing with the integration of refugees at Arqus universities.

The Arqus ad hoc bottom-up Initiative deals with the integration of refugee students at Arqus universities and emerged from the Arqus Collaboration Project Lab at the University of Padua. In addition to the University of Padua, the initiative brings together five other Arqus partner universities, including University of Graz.

On 7 May, 17:00, project manager Elisa Gamba and film director Leonardo Cinieri Lombroso (online) will present the film „Refugee Girls“, which deals with the experiences of refugee students at European universities, at HS 15.04 at the University of Graz. Before the film screening, Prof. Gerd Oberleitner, Director of the European Training and Research Centre for Human Rights and Democracy (UNI-ETC) and UNESCO Chair in Human Rights and Human Security, will open the event with a welcome speech, which will be followed by an introduction to the topic by Elisa Gamba. After the screening, a discussion will be held with the film director and Dr. Lisa Heschl from the UNI-ETC, who leads the project “Promoting Academic Freedom in Ukraine (FreeAC)”, dealing with the impact of the Russian aggression on academic freedom in Ukraine. The event will be concluded with snacks and drinks.
