Human Rights Café 2024: Which future for human rights?

Under the title ‘Human Rights Café - European democracies at the crossroads: Which future for human rights?’, the focus was on the future of democracy and human rights in Europe. Topics such as populism, migration and climate change were central points of discussion. A particular highlight was the interdisciplinary group of participants, including international students from the Università degli Studi di Padova, the Universidad de Granada, the Universidade do Minho and the University of Leipzig. Over coffee, sandwiches and cake, the committed participants spent over three hours discussing the future of human rights in depth. Together, they discussed what challenges exist, what measures can be taken and how a coalition of different disciplines can help to bring about change. Another edition of the Human Rights Café is planned for next year - with the hope that more Arqus partner universities will take part and that the participants will be more intergenerational.
