First lecture of series "Seven months, seven universities"

Arqus Alliance / University of Granada

Arqus Alliance / University of Granada

Arqus online lecture "Short-term study abroad: Insights from a long-term project” by Eva Seidl (University of Graz).

On 27th January, at 17:00 CET, Arqus organizes the online lecture “Short-term study abroad – Insights from a long-term project”, by Eva Seidl, practitioner-researcher at the Centre for Language, Plurilingualism and Didactics at the University of Graz.

This talk will present a research project in Teaching Studies focusing on international students’ needs and experiences during short-term mobility at a host university. It will give insights into the project outcomes and lessons learned.

Eva Seidl is also a lecturer of German Language and Culture at the Department of Translation Studies at the University of Graz. Her research over 10 years has focused on study abroad, translation-oriented language teaching and didactics in higher education. In addition, Eva Seidl is also engaged in language teacher education.

This is the first of a series of guest lectures (“Seven months, seven universities”) to be offered in the framework of the Action Line 4 of Arqus, Multilingual and Multicultural University (sub-line 4.8). These lectures focus on specific topics related to language and culture and target mainly graduate and post-graduate students as well as early-stage researchers interested in those topics. The lectures are not intended to replace the actions foreseen for this sub-line (exchange of language assistants for partner universities) but rather to fill in the mobility gap existing due to the current pandemic situation.

The lecture will be broadcast on the Arqus YouTube channel.
