The Arqus Café continues to grow and become more well-known, both within and outside the Alliance. The seventh session ended at the beginning of December after 11 weeks of weekly language cafes. In total, there were 19 cafés and 11 different languages offered, all of the Arqus languages plus three more. The cafés were attended a total of 535 times by 166 participants. We thank the 25 tutors who made this possible!
Our students tell you about it!
“It was interesting sharing ideas with people from different places and cultures.”
“The fact that it’s regular and that I can go to multiple groups in one week.”
“Online classes, flexibility, meeting people from other countries, contact with the native speakers.”
A new structure for the sessions
Thanks to their recommendations, we plan to improve the Arqus Café by dividing the sessions into two levels (beginner/intermediate and intermediate/advanced) and having more in-person cafés.
Support at anytime
Starting in February 2024, we will have an Arqus Café Facilitator, Meike Münster, who will coordinate all of the aspects related to the Arqus Café. She is the perfect person for the job as she herself has taken part in the Arqus Café as a participant and a tutor. She has a strong language background with German as her first language, advanced proficiency in English and Portuguese, intermediate proficiency in Spanish and French, and beginning levels of Swedish and Dutch. So you can choose the language that you would like to use when you send emails to the Arqus Café email account: arqus_cafe@arqus-alliance.eu.
