On today's occasion of Europe Day, 9th May 2023, the Alliance will hold a special edition of the Arqus Café.
Europe Day is a day to celebrate peace and unity throughout Europe. The date marks the anniversary of the historic “Schuman Declaration”, which is considered to be the beginning of what is now the European Union. The promotion of multilingualism and interculturalism is a key lever for European integration and identity. In this special edition of the Arqus Café, small games will be played in several languages aiming at mutual understanding, thus promoting multilingualism and interculturality.
We invite all Arqus students and interested people to participate in this Arqus Café on 9th May from 18:00 to 19:00 CEST. Just click on the registration link, fill in the details and you will get the link to the Zoom meeting room where the café will take place.
The Arqus Café is an online foreign language speaking programme. It was launched by the Arqus European University Alliance in 2020, is now running in its 6th round and has already had over 800 participants.
The cafés are not language courses, but an opportunity to use your foreign languages in a relaxed atmosphere and in a small group. You should have a working knowledge of the language (minimum A2/B1 level) so that you can actively participate in the sessions. You will have support from language tutors who are not language teachers, but competent language speakers. They are totally at liberty to structure and design the weekly online lesson with the participants.
Currently, there are cafés for the following languages: Arabic, English, French, German, Italian, Lithuanian, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Spanish and Turkish.
