Arqus in one minute
The European University Alliance Arqus, consisting of the universities of Granada, Graz, Leipzig, Lyon 1, Maynooth, Minho, Padua, Vilnius and Wrocław, is a network of nine universities that work together to improve research, study, teaching and social engagement.
The name of the alliance is derived from the Latin term "arcus/arquus", which means arch. This name represents the bridges that the Alliance is building towards a common future in order to respond to global societal challenges and deepen European unity.
Common challenges
The Alliance's offers and strategies are developed in 15 work packages. These are divided thematically into 3 action lines: "Education", "Research" and "Societal Engagement".
The Alliance has identified three major interdisciplinary challenges as priority areas for joint action in the future:
- Artificial Intelligence and Digital Transformation
- Climate Change and Environmental Sustainability
- European Heritage and Identity
Arqus in one word
On October 8, 2023, Arqus turned 5 years old. On this day, we celebrated the progress we have made and the exciting horizons that await us. We are grateful to the entire Arqus community who have been part of this amazing journey. Let's continue to learn from each other, grow together and aim even higher.
To mark this special occasion, we have produced three videos in which we try to express different aspects of the alliance in just one word. In the first video, we ask our community what it means to them to be part of Arqus.
