On the 26th of June of 2019, the European Commission announced the first 17 alliances of the European Universities Initiative funded by the Erasmus+ programme.
This initiative was proposed by the European Commission in 2017, calling for the emergence of at least 20 European Universities by 2024 as part of the push towards establishing a European Education Area by 2025.
It is envisaged that further 24 alliances will join the 17 alliances of the first call, bringing the total number of pilot alliances to 41, that will work on enhancing the quality and attractiveness of European higher education and boosting cooperation between European institutions, their students and staff. We are extremely happy to be part of this initiative and we will continue to act jointly as a laboratory from which to move forward in the design, testing and implementation of an innovative model for deep inter-university cooperation.
